Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

What is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a practical approach to understanding how our Thoughts, Feelings and Behaviours interact together to maintain emotional well being or disturbance.
CBT helps to understand this interaction and make changes to improve our psychological well being.
CBT is based on the belief that people learn most of their unhealthy ways of thinking and behaving over a long period of time.
Using a set of structured techniques we can help you to identify how you are thinking and how this can cause problematic feelings and behaviours. You will learn to challenge negative thoughts which can help you to react more positively.
How does CBT work?
We will help you to break down problems into smaller areas so that you can see how they are connected and how they affect you.
You may be asked to keep a diary to identify how you react to certain events. This will help you to identify patterns of thoughts, emotions, physical symptoms and actions to see if they are unhelpful or unrealistic.
We have helped many clients to improve their well being and develop more helpful coping skills.
